Two-Day Pop-Up Beginner Mahjong
Join us for a two-evening beginner Mahjong intensive!
Monday, September 7 • 5:30–8:00 PM
Tuesday, September 8 • 5:30–8:00 PM
This is one class meeting over two evenings, and attendance on both nights is required.
This two-evening beginner class is designed to give you a strong foundation in American Mahjong, with the material spread over two shorter sessions.
We'll cover:
Mahjong tiles, racks and basic terminology
How to read and use the NMJL card
Building and recognizing hands
The Charleston
Picking, discarding and calling tiles
Jokers and exposures
Table etiquette
Winning a hand and the basics of scoring
Plenty of hands-on practice throughout the class
And then the real learning begins.
Mahjong is a game you learn by playing. That's why your class doesn't end when you walk out the door.
Guided Play sessions are available as a follow-up to your lesson, giving you a chance to practice what you've learned, ask questions, work through those “Wait... what am I supposed to do now?” moments, and build confidence at the table.
