Ready to learn Mahjong? This two-day beginner course will teach you everything you need to know to confidently sit down and play American Mahjong using the National Mah Jongg League card.
We’ll meet for two 2½-hour sessions, giving you plenty of time to learn the rules, practice with guidance, and get comfortable with the flow of the game.
You’ll learn:
• How to set up and start a game
• Understanding the NMJL card
• Suits, honors, flowers & jokers
• Building and calling hands
• Charleston strategy and passing tiles
• Picking, discarding, calling, and exposing tiles
• How to read the table and follow the action
• Scoring, winning, and common rules
• Plenty of guided practice so you can put it all together
All materials are provided for class use, including Mahjong tiles, racks, mats, and the current NMJL card.
